"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stay firm." (Psalms 20:7-8)
So many times I catch myself trusting in things of this world before I trust God. I can see things of this world. I can't necessarily see God. However, faith is "being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Just because we can't see Him, it doesn't mean He isn't there.
Nothing on this earth is permanent; everything will fade. Only He will remain. Why place your trust in something that isn't permanent? Even the people you love the most here on earth can't promise to never hurt you. Only Jesus is the perfect friend, father, savior, etc. Place your trust in Him.
If you're riding your bike in a race, would you rather have a good, stable bike or a rusty, falling apart bike? If you pick the bike that's falling apart, most likely you won't even finish the race. You may be walking the bike across the finish line... hours later. When we place our trust in things of this world, things can come crumbling down. When we put our faith, trust, hope, and passion all in temporary things, when they fail, we can come out feeling helpless and hopeless. However, when we place our trust is Jesus, who is eternal and completely trust-worthy, we know that we don't have to worry about a thing. Everything is in His hands. (This isn't saying things will be easy, because since we live on earth, things won't always be easy. However, we will have Him with us every step of the way, guiding us, helping us, teaching us.)
Where is your trust? Is it in things temporary? Or in things eternal?
